We are proud to be delivering the GE1 Geelong Data Centre for NEXTDC — an edge facility currently under construction in Corio, Victoria.
Positioned between Melbourne and regional Victoria, GE1 Geelong is designed to extend high-performance digital infrastructure capacity closer to regional enterprises and critical industries. With approximately 4MW of IT capacity and 2,100m² of technical space, the facility is targeting Tier IV certification — reinforcing the reliability and resilience standards that define the NEXTDC network.
Located within one of Victoria’s key industrial and logistics precincts, GE1 Geelong is intended to complement existing metro data centre networks while enabling localised data processing, resilience and connectivity. Once developed, it will support long-term digital growth by providing future-ready infrastructure aligned to the needs of enterprise, government and regional innovation ecosystems.
As digital activity expands beyond major capital cities, the need for edge data centre infrastructure is becoming increasingly clear. GE1 Geelong reflects this shift — bringing sovereign, high-performance capacity to a region that plays an important role in Victoria’s industrial and economic landscape.
This project builds on our long-standing relationship with NEXTDC and a proven track record in data centre construction across Victoria. From hyperscale campuses to this latest regional edge facility, our team brings the technical capability and digital engineering expertise that complex, mission-critical projects demand.
An edge data centre is a decentralised facility located closer to end-users, enabling faster and more reliable access to data and applications. Unlike traditional centralised data centres, edge facilities reduce latency by processing data nearer to where it is generated and consumed.
Benefits include faster application performance, reduced latency, improved user experience, enhanced security, and compliance with data privacy regulations.
Edge data centres are smaller, more agile, and designed to handle large volumes of data traffic with lower latency than traditional data centres. Organisations that rely on real-time data access, critical operations, or regional compliance requirements are increasingly turning to edge solutions to meet those needs.
For regional Victoria, GE1 Geelong represents exactly this kind of infrastructure — designed to support the growing connectivity and processing demands of enterprises, government bodies and industries operating outside the Melbourne metropolitan area.
