Motorway Control Centre-Project Win
Kapitol is proud to be delivering the Motorway Control Centre (MCC) as part of the North East Link – Victoria’s largest road infrastructure project.
Reaching new heights with one of Australia’s largest tower cranes!
This 5-day endeavour began with the installation of a raft slab supported by 12 piles, each 600mm wide and 5m deep. The crane was fully operational within 7 days, thanks to the use of 65 MPa strength, enabling it’s erection shortly after the pour—a mere 48-hour wait! Illuminated in Kapitol teal during the night, this crane can lift up to 100 tons, rendering it ideal for handling extremely heavy prefab components for this data centre.
The meticulous pre-planning contributed to the success of this complex operation. High-risk workshops brought together key consultants, engineers and subcontractors to ensure the safe erection of the crane within a constrained space and on an active data centre site.
Shout out to the M2 team, led by Sebastian Angus, for conquering their biggest challenge yet and a first for Kapitol!
