Breaking into construction means navigating a lot of unknowns. Kapitol Open Day exists to remove a few of them.
Held as an invite-only experience for graduates and third and fourth-year students, Open Day is one of the most direct ways we share what it actually looks and feels like to build a career with us. Not through a polished pitch or a glossy brochure, but through a genuine day of immersion — sharing our story, testing how candidates think under pressure, and putting them inside a live construction environment in Melbourne’s CBD.
Sharing Our Story
The day began with something we believe sets us apart from the start: honesty. We shared the Kapitol story, not as a marketing exercise, but as a real account of how we came to be, what we stand for, and the culture that shapes how we work every day — on site and in the office.
It is the kind of transparency that runs through everything we do. If someone is going to make a decision about where to start their career, they deserve to understand who they are walking into, not just what the company looks like from the outside.
Showcase Activity
From there, attendees were put to the test.
The Showcase Activity is a challenge designed to surface how people think, collaborate and deliver under pressure. It tests problem-solving, decision-making, collaboration and delivery mindset. The kind of challenge that reveals how someone actually shows up when the stakes feel real — and one that tells us far more than a CV or a formal interview ever could.
Live Site Tour: 26 Flinders Street
The day wrapped with a guided walkthrough of our 26 Flinders Street project, an active commercial build right in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.
There is no substitute for being inside a live construction environment. Seeing how planning, coordination and execution come together in real time is something no classroom can replicate. For many attendees, it was their first real look at how a site operates, how a project team moves, and what a construction career feels like from the ground up.
