Our ESG team sat down recently with Green Review to discuss how we’re reducing our environmental impact through design and material choices, together with sustainable construction practices.
Amanda Clements, our Head of HSQ & ESG notes that there can be a misconception in the construction industry that it’s the developer—not builder—who are responsible for ensuring projects are designed and built sustainably. Not so.
“Throughout the ECI process, we partner with specialist consultants to analyse upfront how to reduce embodied carbon by changing materials or designs, and we will work with our client to review Green Star requirements at the ECI stage too,” explained Amanda.
Amanda also notes that even with non-ECI or ‘construct-only’ projects, the design is never 100 per cent complete and there are always changes and improvements to be made as a project comes to life.
