We’re pleased to welcome Jennifer Lee – our very first Quantity Surveyor – to the team. Quick to hit the ground running, Jennifer has been busy working on one of our big data centre projects and was kind enough to take a few moments out of her busy day to answer our questions.
How and why did you become a Quantity Surveyor?
I studied Bachelor of Construction majoring in Quantity Surveying at Massey University in New Zealand. I was drawn to the field because of its unique blend of technical expertise and financial management, and my passion for the built environment. It is a fulfilling role that allows me to make a tangible impact on the success of construction projects.
What does a day in the life of a Quantity Surveyor look like?
A day in the life of a Quantity Surveyor involves preparing cost estimates for construction projects, analysing project specifications and measuring quantities to determine the costs of materials, labour, and equipment, and assisting with variation management throughout the construction process.
What type of projects are you currently working on?
A large-scale data centre, which I’m really enjoying. The scale and progress has blown me away.
What do you love about working at Kapitol?
Interesting and challenging projects, great people who are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and the opportunities for continuous learning and development.
We look forward to seeing Jennifer excel in her career here at Kapitol.
